Does your annual report deserve to win any prizes?
Article Abstract:
The Charity Accounts Awards are sponsored by Accountancy magazine, the Charities Aid Foundation and the Voluntary Movement Group. A 1,000 pound sterling cash prize is awarded to the charity which produces the best annual report. Among the many reasons that a good annual report is important are that it: is a report to previous donors who might donate again; explains and sells the organization; encourages staff; helps with recruiting; and raises direct money. Some of the criteria used to judge reports are: (1) Is the report well planned and clear? (2) Are goals and objectives clear? (3) Is the financial situation made understandable? (4) Is it legible and well-written and designed? (5) Are illustrations used effectively? (6) Does it produce a sense of empathy and excitement? Financial extravagance in producing the report is not encouraged, but careful planning is.
