Firms must ensure that positive public perception is preserved to avoid consequences which may seriously damage or even permanently ruin the company's financial standing. In such crises, managers should act quickly to prevent any further damage to the company's image through the implementation of contingency plans to protect against losses of product recalls. A three-fold plan is which includes crisis containment insurance, contaminated products insurance, and crisis funding is recommended to address consumer boycotts, extortion, and declines in stock prices.
