Y2K: are you ready?
Article Abstract:
Problems relating to the year 2000 computer date transition (Y2K) problem are causing large firms such as FedEx, AT and T and Generl Motors to spend billions to correct. Litigation because of failed or inadequate measures to address the Y2K issue is expected to cost additional billions. Some estimates place the overall global economic impact of addressing Y2K- related concerns at close to US$2 trillion. Newspapers are not immune to Y2K because a lot of their income comes from advertisers, many of whom are vulnerable to the Y2K issue and related legal ramifications.
