Out of the blue
Article Abstract:
The appointment of Louis Gerstner as chief executive officer of International Business Machines (IBM) Corp in 1993 led to changes in the company's introduction and design of product lines. The person who benefitted most from the repositioning of the IBM brand was resident designer Richard Sapper. Sapper was responsible for the design of the Thinkpad notebook computer. The management effort of Gerstner and the expertise of Sapper contributed to IBM's competitiveness. Sapper envisioned the computer industry's focus on portability and capability of computers.

Life beyond death
Article Abstract:
A new multimedia product designed by Alexander Tsiaras enables researchers to view three-dimensional animated models of the human anatomy, providing rich information about the structure and function of human physiology. Tsiaras' 'Anatomical Travelogue' provides animated journeys on CD-ROM, TV, the Web, and a three-dimensional movie. The images derive from the body of a human subject that was put through a Magnetic Resonance Imager, Computerized Tomography Scanner, and complicated computer analysis.
