Creation of VOx surface species on pure silica MCM-48 using gas-phase modification with VO(acac)2

Article Abstract:

Experiments were performed to describe the novel synthesis of pure silica MCM-48 using the 18-12-18 gemini surfactant [C18H37-N+(CH3)2-C12H25-N+ (CH3)2-C18H37].2Br. MCM-48 is a member of the mesoporus molecular sieve family M41S. The preparation resulted in a surface area of 1025 m2/g with a mesoporous pore distribution of 1.4 nanometer at the radius. The adsorption of vanadyl acetylacetonate [VO(acac)2] onto the MCM-48 support was also examined. The findings revealed that the presence of VOx grafts on MCM-48 was regulated by silanol content and not by the support's surface area.

Synthesis of high-quality MCM-48 and MCM-41 by means of GEMINI surfactant method

Article Abstract:

The synthesis of MCM structures using GEM 18-12-18, GEM 16-12-16, GEM 18-10-18, GEM 16-10-16 and GEM 16-8-16 surfactants have been undertaken. The effect of the spacer and the chain length on the type of mesophase formed on these compounds will be examined. MCM structures are the most important members of the M41S family of molecular sieves. Results show the spacer length influences the crystallographic phase formed while the chain length governs the pore size. GEM 18-12-18 and 16-12-16 produce good-quality MCM-48 after a synthesis period of 2 days.

Synthesis of stable, hydrophobic MCM-48/VOx catalysts using alkylchlorosilanes as coupling agents for the molecular designed dispersion of VO(acac)2

Article Abstract:

Research describing the grafting of VOx on the surface of MCM-48 using dimethyldichlorosilane as a coupling agent is presented. The resultant material is shown to be both highly active and hydrophobic.
