Dielectrophoretic assembly of nanowires
Article Abstract:
The three-dimensional dielectrophoretic (DEP) assembly of nanowires (NWs) across opposing electrodes is analyzed by using the immersed electrokinetic finite assembly (IEFEM) method, which is based on the immersed finite element method and electrokinetic theory. This new method is of sufficient power that it would be of direct use in modeling DEP-based assembly and thus the manufacturing of nanoelectronic devices.

Controlled functionalization of multiwalled carbon nanotubes with various molecular-weight poly(L-lactic acid)
Article Abstract:
A study in which multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNT) is functionalized with poly (L-lactic acid) (PLLA) with different molecular weights using a 'grafting to' technique is presented. The study revealed that the grafted PLLA formed blobs exhibiting a squid leg like morphology was attributed to the higher PLLA content and the smaller area of the bare MWNT surface.

Controlled sliding and pullout of nested shells in individual multiwalled carbon nanotubes
Article Abstract:
A mechanical-loading stage operating inside a scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to realize sliding between nested shells of multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs). This study should provide design parameters for nano-mechanical engineering systems.
