Mechanism of laser-induced size-reduction of gold nanoparticles as studied by nanosecond transient absorption spectroscopy
Article Abstract:
Mechanism of laser-induced size reduction of gold nanoparticles was studied by nanosecond transient absorption spectroscopy by irradiating gold particles with a tightly focused pulse laser in an aqueous solution of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS). The findings show that gold nanoparticles are photoprepared in a highly charged state under the existence of a certain amount of SDS surroundings.

Single-crystalline gold microplates: Synthesis, characterization, and thermal stability
Article Abstract:
A simple solution phase process is described for synthesizing single-crystalline gold microplates with regular shape and large edge size up to approximately equal to 50 microm. The thermal stability analysis of Au microplates indicate that they are not thermodynamically stable and that the melting and cracking starts from the edge parts that should be bounded by Au (110) surface.
