Evidence for highly selective supramolecular formation between perylene/gamma-CD and pyrene/gamma-CD complexes in water
Article Abstract:
The simultaneous complexation of pyrene and perylene with gamma-cyclodextrin in water by means of electronic excitation energy is analyzed. The study reveals that although in the solution there are three different pyrene/gamma-cyclodextrin complexes present with stoichiometries of 1:1, 1:2, and 2:2, the (perylene)(sub 1)/(gamma-cyclodextrin)(sub 2) complex that is formed associates exclusively with the excimer-emitting (pyrene)(sub 2)/(gamma-cyclodextrin)(sub 2) adduct and not at all with the others.

The influence of lateral interactions between adsorbed molecules on adsorption kinetics: A statistical rate theory approach
Article Abstract:
The model calculations of qualitative behavior of the lateral interactions between the adsorbed molecules and the adsorption kinetics are presented. The experimental system, CO adsorption on Rh (*100) is used for quantitative analysis, as a result. A good simultaneous description of equilibria and kinetics in this system is obtained.
