Study of interfacial charge-transfer complex on TiO2 particles in aqueous suspension by second-harmonic generation
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze an interfacial charge-transfer complex on titanium dioxide by second-harmonic spectroscopy. Samples of catechol with TiO2 were prepared by mixing the catechol solutions with the TiO2 dispersion. The spectra of the second-order light scattering were then determined by changing the wavelength setting of a monochromator. Moreover, the stability of TiO2 suspension was examined using a series of ultraviolet/vis spectral absorbance measurements.

Anisotropic orientational motion of molecular adsorbates at the air-water interface
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze the ultrafast orientational motions of coumarin 314 adsorbed at the air/water interface using time-resolved surface second harmonic generation. Results indicated that the interfacial solute motions were anisotropic and supported differing out-of-plane and in-plane orientational motions. Findings also showed that the surface reorientation times were 2-3 times slower than the bulk isotropic orientational diffusion time.
