Frictional forces and Amonton's law: From the molecular to the macroscopic scale
Article Abstract:
The study review the historical and modern understanding of the most basic equation of friction, Amonton's law and find that the same friction coefficient is often measured for the same system of materials with junctions whose areas differ by more than 6 orders of magnitude. The trends obtained suggest that the local energy-dissipating mechanisms are not merely mechanical but thermodynamic in nature.

Different molecular structures at polymer/silane interfaces detected by SFG
Article Abstract:
Silane molecules are easily tailored with different chemical groups and can also serve as ideal models to demonstrate different interfacial structures and interactions. Studies of polymer/ silane material hence, is very advantageous as it is commonly used in industrial applications such as adhesion promotion, corrosion prevention or wear reduction.

Boundary friction of aromatic silane self-assembled monolayers measured with the surface forces apparatus and friction force microscopy
Article Abstract:
The friction of aromatic silane monolayers with surface forces apparatus (SFA) and friction force microscopy (FFM) in systems with low adhesion (gamma < 3 mN/m) is studied. The friction forces were lower in systems where both contacting surfaces were covered with a monolayer.
