GERMANY: NEW PAINT FACTORY FOR LACUFA
Article Abstract:
Lacufa AG, part of the Caparol group, has inaugurated one of the most modern European house paint factories in Kothen, Germany. The factory, which cost DM 40mn, produces annually 10,500 t of 3,000 different paints and coatings, among other things 1,200 alkyd resin varnishes. The new factory increased the number of Lacufa employees in Kothen from 53 to about 100. Altogether, Lacufa has invested DM 111mn in the modernisation of factories in Kothen, Furstenwalde, Nerchau and Berlin.

Article Abstract:
The Stuttgart plant of Akzo Nobel Coatings GmbH has been certified according to the QS-9000 and VA6.1 standards of the US and German automotive industries. A certification according to DIN EN ISO 14001 is to follow soon. Austria's leading paint producer, Rembrandtin, has been certified according to the ISO 14001 and EMAS standards.
