Highly acidic mesostructured aluminosilicates assembled from surfactant-mediated zeolite hydrolysis products
Article Abstract:
The surfactant-mediated hydrolysis of ZSM-5 zeolite affords five-membered ring subunits that can be readily incorporated into the framework walls of a hexagonal mesostructured aluminosilicate, denoted MSU-Z, and also imparts unprecedented acidity to the mesostructure. The hydrolysis of USY zeolite under analogous hydrolytic conditions affords zeolitic fragments that boost the acidity of the mesostructure in comparison to equivalent compositions prepared from conventional aluminosilicate precursors.

Template-aluminosilicate structures at the early stages of zeolite ZSM-5 formation. A combined preparative, solid-state NMR, and computational study
Article Abstract:
Species at three stages in the self-assembly of zeolite ZSM-5 is studied with one and two dimensional magic angle spinning (super 13)C, (super 27)Al, (super 29)Si, and (super 1)H NMR spectroscopy. The observed (super 29)Si-{(super 1)H} REDOR dephasing for the Q(super 3) sites in the precursors is significantly faster than that for the Q(super 4) sites.
