Orientation of 6-mercaptopurine SAMs at the silver electrode as studied by Raman mapping and in situ SERS
Article Abstract:
The formation process of 6-mercaptopurine (6MP) self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) on the surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS)-active Ag electrode was studied in acidic and alkaline media by the Raman mapping technique which showed that the adsorption mode of 6MP SAMs changed with the pH value of the environment. The results reveal that the desorption potentials of 6MP SAMs formed under acid and alkaline conditions from the Ag electrode are at ca. -1.3 V and -1.6 V vs SCE, respectively.

Solvent effect on redox properties of hexanethiolate monolayer-protected gold nanoclusters
Article Abstract:
The capacitance of monolayer-protected gold nanoclusters (MPCs), [C.sub.PMC], in solution was theoretically reconsidered from an electrostatic viewpoint, in which an MPC was considered as an isolated charged sphere within two dielectric layers, the intrinsic coating monolayer, and the bulk solvent. The model predicted that the bulk solvent provides an important contribution to [C.sub.MPC] and influences the redox properties of MPCs.

Raman mapping and in situ SERS spectroelectrochemical studies of 6-mercaptopurine SAMs on the gold electrode
Article Abstract:
The self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) of 6-mercaptopurine (6MP) are formed at the roughened polycrystalline gold surfaces in acid and alkaline media. The results suggest that both the resulted 6MP SAMs adopted the same adsorption mode through the S atom of pyrimidine moiety and the N7 atom of the imidazole moiety anchoring the gold surface in a vertical way.
