Photoionization and photofragmentation of SF6 in Helium nanodroplets

Article Abstract:

Tunable vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) synchrotron radiation from the Advanced Light Source (ALS) was employed for investigating the photoionization of He droplets doped with SF6. Results reveal that the photoelectron spectrum of SF6-doped droplets at 21.8 eV is similar but not identical to that of gas-phase SF6, indicating that the same set of [SF6.sup.+] states, all of which are dissociative, are accessed in the droplet.

Helium atom scattering studies of the structures and vibrations of the H2, HD, and D2 monolayers on NaCl(001)

Article Abstract:

A study of the structures and vibrations of monolayers of both normal and para-H2 as well as of HD and D2 on single-crystal NaCl(001) surfaces is presented with high-resolution helium atom scattering at surface temperatures of 8 K. The diffraction patterns of all of these systems are consistent with a (1*1) structure, thereby simplifying the interpretation of the time-of-flight spectra

The growth of HF polymer in helium nanodroplets: Probing the barriers to ring insertion

Article Abstract:

The first experimental observation of (HF)(Sub n) (n = 4,5,6) clusters, grown in helium nanodroplets is reported. Four of the five H-F stretching vibrational bands of a new isomer of (HF)(Sub 5) are observed corresponding to a tetramer ring to which a fifth HF is hydrogen bonded.
