Physical nature of ethidium and proflavine interactions with nucleic acid bases in the intercalation plane

Article Abstract:

The interaction energy between intercalator and intercalant was analyzed based on crystallographic structure fragments of complexes involving cationic ethidium and proflavine. The electrostatic component constitutes the same fraction of the total energy for all three studied structures and cumulative atomic multipole moments interaction surfaces, calculated on grids in the intercalation planes of these structures, reasonably reproduce the alignment of intercalators in crystal structures.

A novel series of the new visible-light-driven photocatalysts Mco (sub 1/3)

Article Abstract:

A new series of the visible light-driven photocatalysts Mco(sub 1/3)Nb( sub 2/3)O( sub 3) (M=Ca, Sr and Ba) with an ABO(sub 3)-type perovskite structure was developed, in which B site is occupied by Co(super 2 plus)and Nb(super 5 plus) randomly. They were characterized by power X-ray diffraction, UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy and photocatalytic activity measurements with Pt and Nio chi cocatalyst under visible-light irradiation.

Reactions of vanadium and niobium oxides with methanol

Article Abstract:

The reactions between vanadium and niobium oxide cations and methanol were conducted using a guided ion beam mass spectrometer coupled to a laser vaporization source to elucidate the reactivites of the group V metal oxide clusters. The effects of the properties of the clusters, stoichiometry, oxidation state and composition on their reactivity toward methanol are discussed.
