Red edge excitation shift of a deeply embedded membrane probe: implications in water penetration in the bilayer
Article Abstract:
Research concerning localization of the same fluorescent group at different bilayer depths to exhibit the solvent-induced effects has been conducted. Results demonstrate that NBD-cholesterol reveals strong fluorescence polarization dependence on excitation wavelength in fluid membranes.

Depth-dependent solvent relaxation in reverse micelles: a fluorescence approach
Article Abstract:
Depth-dependent solvent relaxation effects in the reverse micellar assembly are reported. NBD-cholesterol, a fluorescent cholesterol analogue, is used for this purpose.
