Shear and frictional interactions between adsorbed polymer layers in a good solvent
Article Abstract:
Shear interactions between polymer-bearing solid surfaces is studied for the case of polymer brushes, and there is an emerging understanding of the mechanism that governs these forces. The study reveals the frictional forces between two solid surfaces bearing adsorbed polymers in a good solvent medium, the most common case of surface coverage by polymers, for two polymers differing significantly in molecular weight M.

Solvent polarity at polar solid surfaces: The role of solvent structure
Article Abstract:
The resonance-enhanced second harmonic generation (SHG) spectra of 4-aminobenzophenone (4ABP) adsorbed to different solid/liquid boundaries show that the interfacial solvent polarity is controlled by a number of factors. The spectra of 4ABP adsorbed to silica/n-alcohol boundaries show that the solute samples an environment that reflects neither the properties of the substrate nor the properties of the solvent.

Self-assembly of rigid and coil polymers into hollow spheres in their common solvent
Article Abstract:
A study is conducted to examine the self-assembly of the rigid oligomer, polyimide with carboxyl ends and a proton-accepting polymer poly in solutions. The results indicate that lowering the weight ratio of PI/PVPy at a constant concentration of PVPy and accordingly the total concentration caused a thinner frame and larger pore diameter.
