Neopentane and solid acids: Direct hydron exchange before cracking
Article Abstract:
The hydrogen/deuterium (H/D) exchange reaction of 2,2-dimethylpropane (neopentane) over [D.sub.2]O-exchanged zeolites is investigated using a batch recirculation reactor by means of gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometer. Findings suggest that H/D exchange between solid acids and neopentane is only possible through a carbonium ion since no primary product from oxidation can be stabilized by fast deprotonation/reprotonation process.

Alkaline treatment of iron-containing MFI zeolites. Influence on mesoporosity development and iron speciation
Article Abstract:
The effect of alkaline treatment on the mesoporosity development and iron speciation in Fe-MFI zeolites is investigated. Iron in framework positions has shown to provoke mesopore formation, whereas nonframework iron species suppresses silicon leaching and lowers the extent of extra porosity.
