Soluble complexes of sodium poly(isoprene-b-methacrylate) micelles with cationic surfactants in aqueous media
Article Abstract:
Water-soluble complexes between sodium poly(isoprene-b-methacrylate) (NaIMA) amphiphilic block copolymer micelles and two cationic surfactants dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide (DTMAB) and octyltrimethylammonium bromide (OTMAB) were prepared by mixing individual aqueous solutions of block copolymers and surfactants. Experiments reveal surfactant complexation at the coronal NaMA chains, followed by an increase in mass and a decrease in size of the micelles and the complexes show a temperature dependence of their dimension due to the hydrophobic effect.

Mesoscopic and microscopic investigation on poly(vinyl alcohol) hydrogels in the presence of sodium decylsulfate
Article Abstract:
The small and ultrasmall angle neutron scattering techniques are used to analyze the structure of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) hydrogels formed as a result of freeze/thaw treatments of aqueous solutions of the polymer in the freshly prepared state. The results have shown that sodium decylsulfate (C10OS) micelles do not interact well with the PVA gel and hence the variation of the gel structure by the number of freeze/thaw cycles modulates the rate of release of an active constituent.
