Surface photochemistry of Rh(CO)2 on zeolite Y-production of a stable coordinatively unsaturated rhodium monocarbonyl surface species at room temperature
Article Abstract:
The photochemical production and chemical reactivity of a new coordinatively unsaturated rhodium monocarbonyl species on the surface of dealuminated zeolite Y over a temperature range of 300-420 K and a pressure range from 10(super -5) to 20 Torr is studied. The work provides insight into the photochemical behavior of Rh(CO)2 species supported on high-area zeolite materials that might improve the role of active rhodium monocarbonyl species in the development of heterogeneous photocatalysts.

Theoretical studies of N2O adsorption and reactivity to N2 and NO on Rh(111)
Article Abstract:
The adsorption and reactivity of N2O on a Rh(111) surface were investigated using periodic calculations. Numbers of adsorption modes in a narrow range of energies were found. The most stable situation corresponded to a weak bonding (0.39 eV) via the N-terminal atom on top of a Rh atom, with the lineal N2O molecule situated almost perpendicular to the surface.

Kinetics of the reduction of the Rh(111) surface oxide: Linking spectroscopy and atomic-scale information
Article Abstract:
Scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and high-resolution core level spectroscopy (HRCLS) are used to determine the reduction of the surface oxide on Rh(111) by [H.sub.2]. The parameters obtained from microscopic STM measurements have agreed well with spatially averaged data from HRCLS measurements.
