Seal of safety
Article Abstract:
The ongoing risk assessment study being conducted by The Fertilizer Institute over fertilizers confirmed that these products pose no risk to human health. Contrary to claims made by Seattle Times reporter Duff Wilson that fertilizers are health hazards, the study found out during sample analysis that elements found in fertilizers, such as arsenic and cadmium, are well within risk-based toxicity benchmarks established in 1997 by the California Department of Food and Agriculture. The study, which will continue through 2000, is being conducted in response to rising concerns over fertilizers.
