Aggregation of tetrakis(p-sulfonatophenyl)porphyrin within modified mesoporous MCM-41
Article Abstract:
The formation of monomeric and aggregated tetrakis(p-sulfonatophenyl)porphyrin within an aluminosilicate mesostructure, specifically MCM-41, under different pH conditions is described. It is seen that the synthesized MCM-41can be stabilized using a silylation reagent, which cross-links oxygen on the surface and functionalizes the interface for proper guest-host interaction.

Structural rearrangements in 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(4-sulfonatophenyl)porphyrin J-aggregates under strongly acidic conditions
Article Abstract:
J-aggregates, formed by the zwitterionic diacid form of the porphyrin 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(4-sulfonatophenyl)porphyrin(H2TPPS(sub 4)(super 4-) under acidic conditions, can be described in terms of fractal geometry. The diacid H2TPPS(sub 4)(super 2-) porphyrin begins to form J-aggregates at about pH1, on addition of hydrochloric acid.
