Variability of conductance in molecular junctions
Article Abstract:
The conductance of molecular junctions, formed by breaking gold point contacts dressed with various thiol functionalized organic molecules, is measured at 293 K and 30 K. Individual conductance traces measured as a function of increasing gold electrode displacement, in the presence of various thiol dressed organic molecules, show clear steps below the quantum conductance steps of the gold contact.

Electrical behavior of molecular junctions incorporating alpha-helical peptide
Article Abstract:
Data obtained from experiments indicate that electron transfer through alpha-helical peptide is very efficient and its conductivity is comparable to those observed for dodecanedithiol. A directional dependence of electron transmission through the peptide is connected with the electric field generated by the molecular dipole of the helix.

Analysis of the causes of variance in resistance measurements on metal-molecule-metal junctions formed by conduction-probe atomic force microscopy
Article Abstract:
Alkanethiol tunnel junctions are studied using conducting-probe atomic force microscopy to determine the causes of variability in measured resistance behavior. It is observed that controlling parameters like substrate roughness, tip chemistry, presence of solvent, and extensive tip usage can reduce junction resistance measurements.
