Audio 84: Product Refined Toward Consumer Tastes Will Greet Dealers at Summer CES
Article Abstract:
The 1984 Summer Consumer Electronics Show (SCES) will provide a glimpse of what to expect in the 1984 home audio market. Industry statistics are optimistic. Predictions of 800,000 discs being sold in 1984 are expected to boost compact disc sales as well. Sansui, JVC and Yamaha will all introduce new compact disc players at the SCES. Increased power and high technology at lower prices characterize the offerings in the one-brand audio systems category. The trend in 1984 will be incorporating compact disc into the one-brand systems. In the home loudspeaker category, activity at both the high and low ends of the market spectrum can be expected in 1984, based on the SCES offerings. Digital- ready components are what we can expect in the audio receiver and amplifier markets.
