CD recording systems
Article Abstract:
A buyers' guide shows information about 32 CD recording software packages, and 13 CD-Recordable drives. A CD-ROM recording system has become a necessity in any multimedia studio, and prices have come down considerably over the past few years. A CD recording (CD-R) system is useful for creating prototypes of a multimedia product, or using to create one-off discs for special purposes. The premastering software should support all common formats, including ISO 9660 for DOS and Windows, HFS for the Mac, and CD-audio. The premastering software creates a hard disk image file of the material. Sophisticated software will also allow the developer to determine file placement. Developers will need to select a true multimedia CD recorder that supports all CD formats. Some recorders are useful only as data backup devices. Recording speed is another important consideration, especially if several discs are being burned consecutively.

Means to a message
Article Abstract:
Internet merchants need a public relations strategy. It is important to establish an relationship with publishers and get the right PR message across to potential customers. Hiring an appropriate PR company is not difficult, but basic knowledge is required. For example, it is important to know the difference between ad copy and a press release. An ad speaks directly to a potential customer, but a press release speaks through a journalist. The latter sort of a communication should be objective, concise and focused on the journalist's requirements. Sending the same release to every publication usually does not work. An Internet merchant needs to remember that the main difference between traditional and online marketing is that online customers need to find the merchant, and the merchant's job, therefore, is to help customers to do so.
