Federal Government Takes Leading Role in OA Support for Handicapped Workers
Article Abstract:
The federal government's Interagency Committee for Computer Support of Handicapped Employees is spearheading a movement to establish a policy that ensures handicapped office employees access to computerized devices. One policy being considered would require that all computer equipment sold to the federal government be either adaptable to disabled users or compatible with equipment already adapted. A one-day symposium at the Federal Office Automation Conference, October 31, 1985, will look into advances in computer technology to help the disabled and will provide information on how equipment can be adapted for accessibility by handicapped people.
