Japanese Companies Begin to Slice Up Shredder Market

Japanese companies are now exporting paper shredders. The largest of these is Meiko Shokai Company. The increase in office automation equipment is responsible for the boom in shredders. It is estimated that 7,000 million yen worth of shredders are exported each year. The advantages of shredders are that they do not take up space, are efficient and produce something recyclable. Japanese shredders have automatic reverse, automatic stop, automatic power stop, door switch and circuit breakers. Larger Meiko Shakai models cost between fifteen and twenty million yen. Personal shredders are priced at under 100,000 yen. A table of Meiko Shokai shredders and photographs of various companies' shredders are included.
