Personnel Trends in the '80s
Article Abstract:
The changing demographic picture, changes in the workplace, changes in people's attitudes, and legal impacts are reshaping personnel trends. A decline in the number of young people in the work force, an increase of those in the thirty-five to forty-four year-old age bracket, and an increased number of women in the work force are among demographic issues. The workplace is emphasizing increased productivity which can be achieved by companies sharing more information with employees, more employee involvement in decision making, the establishment of a pay-for-performance policy, and improving performance measurment systems. Changes in the workplace are having an impact on where and how work will be done, and hiring and training methods. Both companies and employees are making moves to create a more positive atmosphere in the workplace. An office interior is pictured. A chart shows expected future job growth.
