Since the United Nations has designated 1985 as International Youth Year, it is fitting to emphasize that all managers, regardless of age, work together. A team approach is called for in which young managers provide new ideas and take chances and older managers provide hindsight, experience, and foresight. 'Hands-on' knowledge can be limited by wholesale dismissal of older employees now that mandatory retirements are being outlawed.

Inherent in the Judeo-Christian tradition are certain values and precepts according to which humility is identified with virtue. Expressions of pride, on the other hand, tend to be associated with arrogance and self-exaggeration. It follows that how to properly cope with the achievements of individuals in a complex corporate environment can become a real problem for management as well as successful personnel.
