New Office Printer Combines Daisywheel and Dot-Matrix Features in a Single Enclosure

Brother International Corp. has introduced Twinriter 5, the first printer to feature dual printhead technology permitting one printer to print letter quality and switch to the faster dot-matrix printhead for near letter quality and graphics printing. A centronics parallel interface, a 10x12x15 pitch and proportional spacing, and a maximum paper width of 16.5 inches are standard features. A tractor feeder, cut-sheet feeder, RS232C serial interface and a variety of daisywheel typestyles are among the options. Priced at $1,295, the printer is compatible with most personal computers and software programs. A photograph of the product is included.

Office Printstation Combines Daisywheel Printer, Paper Feeder, and Acoustical Hood

The Paper Jet 2000 from Ziyad Inc. is an integrated workstation for printing, or printstation, that combines a 47-CPS daisywheel printer, two paper trays, an envelope tray, and an acoustical enclosure. Adjustable paper trays hold a maximum of 175 sheets of paper in order to serve shared-resource environments. The Name and Address Capture feature memorizes the inside name and address and automatically positions the address and accompanying envelopes. PaperJet 2000 interfaces with RS 232 C serial, Centronics parallel, IBM 8-bit parallel, and 13-bit parallel host that use existing printer drivers. A photograph is included of the PaperJet 2000.

The Primage 90 printing system is comprised of a daisywheel printer plus an on-demand motor-driven sheet feeder. Print-in-flight technology is incorporated.
