Office Security
Article Abstract:
In their attempt to screen potential employees, employers have three tools. Standardized questionnaires are better for determining blue collar attitudes toward tangible thefts than for detecting data processing personnel's scruples about stealing information. The legality of polygraph testing varies by state and is not useful for detecting potential theft. Written references are frequently incomplete. Communications with employees along with resources to aid in personnel problems are the most effective means of preventing business theft.

Office Security
Article Abstract:
The recruitment, training, and performance supervision of security guards is lax in many instances. Low pay is a prime reason for inferior personnel. Guards are not adequately trained to handle fires, injuries, or intruders. Inadequate command of English is common. Many security firms provide too few guards for adequate protection. When using security firms, companies should get referrals and provide additional training and monitoring.
