Matsushita Electric Industrial Co Ltd introduces the Panasonic PT-L797 portable projector, which boasts of a superior luminance of 1,600 lumens using dual lamps. Unlike other portable projectors that suffer from either cross-color problems or low luminance, the PT-L797 uses a couple of DC 150W UHM lamps with a short arc to provide both superior resolution and luminance. The device also employs a microlens array to better focus the incident light on the 1.3-inch polysilicon LCD panel.

PICZA 3-D scanner, 3-D input device to expand computer possibilities

Roland Digital Group (DG) has launched a new member of the Picza series of scanners called the PIX-4 3-D. The scanner is equipped with contact-system piezo sensors that utilize probes. Storage of 3-D images is fully automated since the scanner can be linked to Windows and Macintosh computers through cables. It also emphasizes low price and precision. Roland plans to enhance its efforts to promote 3-D input devices.
