The largest number of keyboards are being used by the computer peripheral and business equipment industry according to a Venture Development Corporation report. This market was worth $121 million in 1982. The market for keyboards for computers themselves is worth sixty million dollars. The computer market has increased by twenty-seven percent, and the business equipment market by 19.4 percent. Microprocessors have increased the demand for flat panel and micromotion keyboards in instrumentation products. Foreign keyboard suppliers have done well in telecommunications. A pie chart of keyboard shipments by industry segment is included.
