Sanyo Electric Co. Ltd.'s PLC series of LCD projectors offer ease of use and excellent performance. Each model provides bright images in fine resolution and is compatible with various audio-video sources. The PLC-9000 adopts three 1.8-in polysilicon LCD panels, each with 1,024 x 768 dots. The PLC-9000 is compatible wih XGA formats and with compressed Super XGA coering 1,280 x 1,024 dots. A 400W metal halide lamp and Sanyo's innovative optical system result in a brightness of 1,500 lumens (ANSI). The portable PLC-8810 features XGA compatibility and delivers 1,024 dots x 768 lines and 786,432 pixels. The PLC-8810 is also compatible with compressed SXGA with 1,152 dots x 864 lines, and workstation formats with 1,280 dots x 1,024 lines. The multimedia PLC-5600 incorporates a built-in handle for portability and features three 1.3-in LCD panels that provide a total of 1,557,504 pixels. A 120W Ultra High Power lamp with a spectrum near that of sunlight gives the PLC-5600 a brightness of 700 lumens (ANSI).

NEC cultivates portable yet powerful LCD projectors

NEC Home Electronics Co. Ltd.'s MultiSync MT820 and MT102 LCD projectors provide a full range of functionality for large-screen displays. Powerful and extremly portable, the projectors come with a wireless remote controller. The MultiSync MT-820 is compatible with Super VGA images with 800 x 600 dots, while the MT1020 handles XGA images with 1,024 x 768 dots. Both models are compatible with almost any image source, including Macintosh machines, IBM-PCs and compatibles, and lap-top models offering XGA images. Each has two computer inputs, one for S-video and one for video.
