Traditional Office Equipment Sales Forces Will Suffer as New Distributors Enter
Article Abstract:
A study by Frost and Sullivan indicates that increased competition in the microcomputer market has caused vendors to seek indirect distribution channels. The vendors are focusing upon reduced marketing costs while reaching a broader base with cheaper products. The stand-alone sales through dealers will increase from fifteen per cent of the total in 1982 to twenty-five per cent in 1987. Non-direct sales will increase from twenty-five to forty per cent over the same period.
