Article Abstract:
The microcomputer-to-mainframe connection in 1985 is still in its infancy - end and institutional users must exist with current products for another year or two. Major limiting factors are a local area network interface to the mainframe and mainframe vendor software to complement the connection. Sophisticated software would allow for the microcomputer-workstation to leave the realm of a terminal and look like a true computer to its mainframe peer. There is a diagram of a local area network.
