Xerox Upgrades OA Product Line with PC-Based Word Processors and a Professional Computer System
Article Abstract:
Xerox has upgraded its office automation product line with the introduction of two new personal computer-based word processors (WPs), a professional computer system, and allied software. The Xerox 6067 and 6068 WPs offer MSDOS capability and feature a new keyboard and the Screenmate operator interface. The WPs use either the entry level Writer I of Write II software which offers additional WP features. Writer I with the 6067 and costs $2,895. Writer II with the 6068 is priced at $5,150. Offered in three models-network, remote and stand-alone-the new 6085 professional computer system is priced at $4,995. The Viewpoint Series software for the 6985 is priced at $125. Article Abstract:
The Raytheon Data System (RDS)-200 can perform electronic spread sheet, database management and BASIC programming functions in a CP-M-based operating system. Newer printers able to print twenty to forty characters per second will be available with the RDS-200. With a printer and software programs added, the RDS-200 will cost nearly $6,500. The RDS-200 combines word processing features with a personal computer.

New Equipment Service Lets Computers and Word Processors Send Telexes by Phone
Article Abstract:
Word processors and microcomputers can send and receive messages over the phone when using the RCA Globcom. By simply dialing a special phone number, receiving verification of the connection and entering the TELEX number, the message can be sent. Messages of up to 1200 words per minute can be sent, easily surpassing the old rate of 66 words per minute.
