ALC set to debut full-motion technology

ALC Interactive, which is the online arm of American List Counsel Inc., plans to roll out its technology, tentatively dubbed as EyeStoppers, which will enable online marketers to utilize full-motion video in advertising without asking consumers to download special software when viewing it. Full-motion video is converted by EyeStoppers into video that may be inserted into any Web page and viewed with any browser. EyeStoppers will be unveiled on June 1-4, 1998, at the 15th Annual Catalog Conference & Exhibition in Boston, MA. Meanwhile, EyeStoppers' Web site at www.smartbiz.com/eyestoppers demonstrate a five-second EyeStoppers video.

iQVC inks four-way deal; are grocery sales next to fly?

iQVC recently bared a Web real-estate deal with four Internet retailers in an aim to gain a firm hold in three of the top-selling Internet product categories. The agreement calls for Barnes & Noble booksellers' online arm barnesandnoble.com, computer products retailer Cyberian Outpost, non-perishable grocery merchant NetGrocer and music retailer N2K's Music Boulevard to occupy space on the iQVC Web site in an area to be launched in fall 1998 called The SquareoiQVC. As part of the deal, the four merchants will be given television exposure on the QVC television shopping channel.
