Insight Enterprises buys treasure chest

Insight Enterprises, a computer direct marketing company based in Tempe, AZ, bought New Orleans, LA-based Treasure Chest Computers Inc. for common stock in Insight valued at $10 million, with additional profitability options. Insight will boost its motherboard offerings to around 20 via this deal after only holding three to four earlier. Insight chief financial officer Stanley Laybourne noted that the two direct marketing companies maintain around 10% customer overlap. Laybourne also stressed that the buyers of Treasure Chest have expressed their openness to using the Web for their purchases.

Excite@Home buys into 2 web firms

Internet portal and marketing company Excite@Home Inc has invested more than $2.5 million to acquire minoroty stakes in two Web firms. The company has sunk $2.5 million into Internet postage company E-Stamp Corp, and has bought a minority stake in Rosenbluth Interactive.
