Mercury begins sales certification program

Mercury Marine of Fond du Lac, WI, has started a program aimed at increasing the level of professionalism among its sales force. The marine diesel engine maker has enrolled 39 of its sales people in a sales course administered by the Madison, WI-based Lytle Organization. Mercury's sales force, which will undergo subsequent testing in spring 1999, will then qualify for certification under a sales professionalism standard akin to ISO 9000.

Ruling eases fears of big outboard price hikes
Article Abstract:
Speculations about engine price hikes were laid to rest with the US International Trade Commission ruling that the dumping of outboard engines from Japan has not injured domestic manufacturers. Since no injury was found, the bonds that were collected as antidumping penalties from Japanese outboard manufacturers were refunded.
