Ziff Davis reorganizes magazine division

The reorganization of its magazine division and two new magazines are some of the plans to be implemented by Ziff Davis Media Inc. The company was formed when investment firm Willis Stein & Partners acquired Ziff Davis Publishing for $780 million. The magazine division has been restructured into the consumer and business magazine units. Among the magazines that the consumer unit publishes are PC Magazine, Yahoo! Internet Life and FamilyPC. The investment firm also appointed James Dunning as CEO and Pres of Ziff Davis Media.

Chief Executive magazine launches dot-com spinoff

New York-based Chief Executive Group is launching a bimonthly spinoff of Chief Executive magazine in Jan 2000. Called dotCEO, the spinoff will debut with a controlled circulation of 25,000. Its target audience will include presidents, CEOs, chairmen and other senior executives at Internet-related technology firms. It will cover topics such as funding, IPOs and growth management, aimed specifically for senior-level managers at Internet companies.
