The Dakota-Pine no 177 project in Victorville, CA, won the Best American Living Award for Best Affordable First-Time-Buyer Home in the West Region for 1993. The house features a plan composed of three distinct living areas where family activities take place. These include a formal living room, a family area and the bedroom area. The living room serves as the entertainment center and provides access to a rear patio and a front porch where outdoor gatherings can be held. The family core centrs on the island kitchen which open to the dining area and family room. The bedrooms constitute a private area of the house.
