DMA fights I-tax bill via e-mail
Article Abstract:
The Direct Marketing Assn (DMA) has implemented an e-mail campaign to express its opposition to a bill filed by Sen Byron Dorgan that would extend the current moratorium on Internet tax but requires mandatory interstate sales tax collection for companies with no 'nexus' in a state. The DMA has sent more than 13,000 e-mail messages concerning the bill to its members, asking recipients to personalize a form letter on their letterheads and fax, mail or e-mail it to their senators. The DMA said the campaign had a response rate of 3%, higher than the expected 1%.
