Dutch become World's first postal company listed on stock exchanges
Article Abstract:
TNT Post Group (TPG), in Amsterdam, Netherlands, became the first listed mail service when its shares began trading on the Amsterdam, London, New York and Franfurt stock exchanges on Juen 29, 1998. The move signals the separation of KPN, the holding company for the Dutch post and telecom service, into two independent units. TPG will manage mail, express and logistics activities, while Royal KPN NV will take over the telecom. The new listing also marks the Dutch as being on the forefront of privatizing services for quick international growth. Other postal services are expected to follow suit.
