WorldCom settles FCC slamming inquiry

WorldCom Inc, a long-distance telephone company based in Clinton, MS, announced in Jun 2000 that it will settle an FCC inquiry into is sales practices. The settlement will cost the company $3.5 million and calls for some changes in its telemarketing operations. The FCC investigation found WorldCom to be guilty of slamming. The agency said that it received more slamming complaints involving WorldCom than any other carrier in 1999.
