Former U.S. attorney sentenced for role in telemarketing scams
Article Abstract:
John A Field, III, a former US attorney, was sentenced to two years in prison for his involvement in a series of telemarketing scams that sold bogus investment products. The light sentence may be attributed to the fact that he pleaded guilty to money laundering and conspiracy after his arrest in 1996, and after working undercover in assisting federal investigators. He was also fined $20,000. His sentence will begin on Aug 18, 2000.
