John H. Harland to buy Concentrex for $140 million

Direct marketing services firm John H Harland Co has agreed to purchase Concentrex Inc for appproximately $7 per share, or $140 million, a figure which includes transaction-related expenses and loan obligations. John H Harland expects the acquisition to help its cash flow in 2000 although it is bound to negatively affect earnings in 2000 and 2001. The companies' commbined revenues from software is expected to total to $150 million in 2000.

Foundation Health sells center, outsources to purchaser

Managed health care company Foundation Health Systems Inc of Woodlands Hills, CA, has sold its Healthline triage call center to healthcare industry technology provider HBO and Co of Atlanta, GA, for $38 million in cash. The assets acquired by HBO consists mainly of a database of protocols nurses follow when patients call to receive medical advice. HBO and Co will merge the acquired assets with its own $175-million-per-year triage call center division called Access Health Care Center
