Many DMers would see double-digit jump in the USPS' latest rate case

The US Postal Service has filed a petition that would increase the postal rate by average of 6.4% effective Jan 2001. The planned increase would increase the rate of Standard-A mailers by an average of 7.7%, with rate increases of 9.4% for Commercial Regular, 4.9% for Commercial Enhanced Carrier Route, 5.6% for Nonprofit Regular and 14.8% for the Nonprofit Enhanced Carrier Route subclass. USPS said that the rate increase would boost its revenues by $3.7 billion.
