NSIA study: sailors have more fun
Article Abstract:
A survey by the National Sailing Industry Assn has found that skippers of sailboats generally derive more satisfaction from their vessels than their powerboat counterparts. Sailboat aficionados consider boating a passion which is fulfilling, peaceful, rejuvenating, a part of their lifestyle and a lifestyle, rather than a mere outdoor activity. The study suggests that the sailing lifestyle binds its adherents unlike any other type of boating. Thus, sailboat makers can maximize their marketing using this significant fact.

Aluminum prices 'advantageous'
Article Abstract:
Aluminum boat manufacturers are benefitting from lower aluminum costs in 1999, allowing them to maintain prices of their products. According to Tracker Marine LP, fluctuations in aluminum prices would not have direct impact on its operations or on the cost of the company's boats, although it admitted that the firm appreciates lower aluminum costs. On the other hand, Outboard Marine Corp's Lowe Boats Marketing Dir John Metcalf refused to comment on the issue, citing business confidentiality.
