Privacy study: legislation out, user control in
Article Abstract:
A study published by the Washington, DC-based Pew Internet and American Life Project has found that most Internet users strongly believe that rules governing how World Wide Web firms track visitors to their sites must be established. However, a significant number of the respondents said that such rules need not necessarily take the form of federal legislation. The study is a follow-up tracking poll to a random telephone survey of 2,117 US adults conducted between May 19, 2000-Jun 21, 2000.
